Dr. Craig A. Miller is a distinguished vascular surgeon and acclaimed medical historian whose writing brings to life the legacies of transformative figures in medicine and science.

His latest book, Genius Unbroken: The Life and Legacy of Dr. Charles R. Drew (Georgetown University Press, 2025), chronicles the groundbreaking work and enduring impact of the pioneering African American physician and blood banking innovator.

Dr. Miller’s earlier works include The Big Z: The Life of Robert M. Zollinger (2014), a finalist for the Welch Medal, and The Making of a Surgeon in the 21st Century (2004), which was translated into Japanese and Chinese and inspired episodes of a popular television series.

Dr. Miller has served as Scholar-in-Residence at the Medical Heritage Center of the Ohio State University and as a Michael E. DeBakey Fellow in the History of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health, in addition to chairing many other national and international committees.
